Team K 5 Summit/Mission Statement

Before the blessing of our little trio, John & I would hold a "Team K Summit" once or twice a year.

At "summit" we would visit a local hotel for two days and discuss our goals, review our financial situation, plan for the next year, enjoy good meals and reminisce about what we had accomplished since our last summit. Our summits always had an agenda. It was at these “meetings” we decided where we were going to celebrate our next anniversary, what projects we needed to focus on around the house, agreed to a time frame for expanding our family and more often than not we laughed until we cried. People/friends would often chuckle (sometimes right to our faces) when we talked about our summit because these weekends appeared on the outside as "business". We always laughed off the nay-sayers because we saw the results of our planning and knew the connection we had was strengthened between the two of us.

These were very special weekends for the two of us. Our summits have gone on hiatus since the arrival of our beloved angels. Over the past years, because of the love and support of our parents, we have had many opportunities to get away for work related weekend travels and also a few anniversary vacations but they have not been the same as our summit weekends.

As I was searching for something (I don't remember what it was) I discovered a copy of our "Team Krajnak Mission Statement". At our summit in March of 2000, we took the time to compose a mission statement. At the end of the last century, if I recall correctly, composing mission statements seemed to be all the rage incorporate America. Every company needed one. Every place of business had one hung on the wall. It became part of the corporate culture. (Did having a mission statement on a wall ever make you feel more confident to purchase a product simply because it stated something about providing the “highest quality customer service? I think company mission statements are now hidden in their annual statements for Wall Street and reserved for stockholder meetings. Seriously, when and where was the last time you saw one?) Listed below you will find ours. It hasn’t sold any products or provided better customer service but it has provided direction for our family decisions. We're pretty proud of the words written and the fact that together we continue to live by these principles (although my scale might disagree with one phrase).

In 2000, it was mission statements. In 2009 it's a blog. We are diving into this not-so-new world with both feet (actually all five sets of feet). Who knows what will come next on our journey? We hope that you will follow along with us. We can't promise daily updates but we do hope to share some of the moments in our family that make us smile. We hope they make you smile too.

• We are committed to never going to bed angry with another family member. We will share hugs, kisses, smiles and "I love you's" daily.
